At Bright Scholars, we believe that every child deserves a quality education and we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment where children can thrive.
Our VPK Program
The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program is a state-funded program designed to prepare children for Kindergarten and is available to children who are four years old by September 1st of the current school year. The program is offered during the regular school year and provides children with 540 hours of instructional time. We offer both morning and afternoon Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Programs following Osceola County’s academic calendar.
The program provides a variety of learning opportunities that are both age-appropriate and engaging. The curriculum is designed to focus on early literacy, mathematics, science, and social skills. Children engage in activities that encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
To enroll in our VPK program, parents must use Florida’s Early Learning Family Portal to obtain a VPK certificate. The process requires parents to provide proof of Florida residency, their child’s birth certificate, and other required documentation.
The benefits of the VPK program include increased school readiness, enhanced social and emotional development, and increased confidence and self-esteem. The program has been shown to have a positive impact on children’s academic performance, particularly in reading and mathematics.
The VPK program in the state of Florida is a valuable opportunity for children to gain a strong foundation in education and social skills before entering kindergarten. The program is flexible and free of charge, making it accessible to all families in the state.
Why Choose Bright Scholars for VPK?
At Bright Scholars, we believe in the importance of providing children with a well-rounded education. In addition to the core curriculum, we offer enrichment programs that expose children to art, music, and physical education. We also incorporate technology into our curriculum, providing children with hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for success in the 21st century.
Here are just a few of the reasons why you should choose us for your child’s VPK program:
Experienced and Qualified Teachers
Early childhood education is a crucial stage of development for children, and having experienced and qualified teachers in this field is essential for their academic and social growth. Experienced teachers are better equipped to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for children. They understand the unique needs and behaviors of young children and can respond appropriately to their emotional and physical needs.
Our experienced and qualified teachers are trained to provide children with opportunities to develop social and emotional skills such as empathy, cooperation, and self-awareness. These skills are essential for building positive relationships and establishing a solid foundation for future learning. Our teachers are skilled in providing developmentally appropriate activities that support cognitive and academic development in young children. They create activities that foster curiosity and a love for learning, while also helping children build foundational skills in literacy, math, and science.
Our experienced teachers understand that children have different learning styles and abilities. They adapt their teaching methods to meet the individual needs of each child, providing a personalized learning experience. Our teachers along with our administrative team work together to offer guidance and support to families during their child’s early years. We partner with our families by providing resources and advice on child development, behavior management, potty training, and other relevant topics, helping families to better understand and support their child’s growth and development.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Having state-of-the-art facilities for early childhood education is important because it can provide a safe, healthy, and stimulating learning environment for children.
Our facilities are designed with safety features such as secure entrances and exits,
age-appropriate equipment, and easy-to-clean surfaces to prevent the spread of germs. Proper ventilation and lighting can also contribute to maintaining a healthy environment. Children are naturally curious and eager to learn so we provide a stimulating and engaging learning environment, with access to age-appropriate equipment, educational materials, and technology.
We also provide children with spaces designed to promote social and emotional development. For example, we have quiet areas for children to relax and reflect, as well as opportunities for group play and collaboration. We also provide accommodations for children with special needs, ensuring that they are not left out and can fully participate in activities.
Our facilities help to promote exploration and learning, social and emotional development, and can also help to attract and retain qualified staff who are dedicated to providing quality care and education for young children.
High-Quality Curriculum
Having a high-quality curriculum for early childhood education is essential for providing children with a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate and takes into account the unique needs, interests, and abilities of children at different ages and stages of development, and can help children build social-emotional, cognitive, and physical skills in a way that is appropriate for their age. This includes language and literacy skills, math and science skills, social-emotional skills, and physical skills while providing opportunities for children to practice and apply these skills in a fun and engaging way.
We also promote creativity and imagination and encourage children to become active learners who take ownership of their own learning.
STEAM Program
Our students all rave about our amazing STEAM curriculum. Using our high-tech STEAM Lab that students visit weekly, we implement S.T.E.A.M. projects that focus on science, technology, engineering, art and math. Our goal is to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills through S.T.E.A.M. lessons. Young children are natural explorers and why not tap into their curiosity in a positive manner. Our STEAM lessons, simply put, allow students to “learn by doing.” A sample S.T.E.A.M. lesson would include students singing Row, Row, Row Your Boat as a precursor to building boats to learn about buoyancy. They then test their boats to see if their boats will float across our Tupperware-made streams.
We utilize a plethora of resources to aid teachers in selecting S.T.E.A.M. lessons that are just right for their students. Such resources include: “Teaching STEM in the Early Years” by Sally Moomaw, “Year-Round Project-Based Activities for STEM” by Kathryn Kurowski, and Blaze and the Monster Machines activities created by Nickelodeon and Young Minds Inspired. Each of these resources offers a variety of age-appropriate lessons with step-by-step teacher directions to lead children from questions, to predictions, to testing their predictions, to finding answers to their questions and then asking even more questions!
Having a high-quality curricular programs for early childhood education can meet developmental needs, support school readiness, foster a love for learning, and improve outcomes for young children.
